You may also need cad and cam software for more complex parts

For cnc beginners please look at Deskcnc software

BOBCAD

Bobcad makes a very popular integrated 3d cad/cam software. It is very powerful and has quite a following. Their ever changing pricing is very interesting, but in the end it is the cheapest cad/cam solution.

Ignore the pricing on their website!

You have to haggle with them

Hayden publishing has written several books on Bobcad. They are quite knowledgeable

Cad software

Rhino is probably the most popular 3d cad  modeling software ma

(cad creates the drawing)

They have excellent support and have a tremendous following

cad history Here is a nice history of cad software

Free cad Free cad software ( I have not tried any of it)

Cam software

Deskcnc has a nice and easy cam software

Deskcnc

I would highly recommend this software and book to all new cnc machinists

This is a fantastic book written about how to use deskcnc software and auto sketch cad program
